The Humboldt Trinity Recreation Alliance (HTRA) is a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting recreation, tourism, and special events in the Humboldt/Trinity region. 100% of the funds generated by HTRA directly support the Southern Trinity Volunteer Fire Department (STVFD), Kettenpom Zenia V.F.D, Alderpoint V.F.D. and Southern Trinity Area Rescue (STAR), as well as assist local community members in need during times of crisis or emergency.
The Ruth Lake Summer Festival is HTRA's main annual fundraising event, taking place every summer during Labor Day weekend. Additionally, the organization hosts the Christmas Craft Faire in early November. Both events feature local talent, gift booths, crafts, raffles with prizes, food, music, and entertainment suitable for all ages, creating a venue that fosters community pride and camaraderie in a family-friendly atmosphere.
The target demographics for HTRA events include local residents and visiting tourists, with a particular focus on family-oriented and multi-generational entertainment. We engage this audience through a variety of music, entertainment, games, and activities suitable for both children and adults. Alcohol is neither served nor permitted at HTRA-sponsored events, and we actively invite participation from local school children, school choirs, 4-H Clubs, churches, artists, and farmers to enrich the community experience.
To promote its events, HTRA distributes flyers to residents and businesses in Trinity and Humboldt counties, as well as displays them in their establishments and local newspapers. Additionally, we leverage free community calendars provided by local TV and radio stations to maximize our outreach.
Our primary obstacles are location and financial constraints. Attracting attendees to drive to Southern Trinity County for events presents a challenge, and increasing advertising efforts to raise awareness and draw people to our beautiful area is crucial for success.
Trinity County is a low-income community in a beautiful area but with limited economic resources. The Humboldt Trinity Recreation Alliance sponsors all volunteer fire protection and rescue services across the expansive 800-square-mile area of Southern Trinity, which relies entirely on volunteers. Therefore, it is crucial for us to raise funds to support these essential services. As a non-profit organization, we are seeking not just a handout but an investment to strengthen our fundraising goals and generate more resources for community benefit. We invite any questions, comments, or suggestions and welcome your ideas.
